Today I am super thankful for having health insurance. I have a good job right now with good health benefits. I received the bill for a recent surgery I had, and insurance is covering a huge amount of the cost. If I had to pay for the entire cost of the surgery, I wouldn't be able to invest for retirement for a loooooong time.
I realize I've spent a lot of the time on my blog looking towards the future and reaching this point of "happiness" and "contentment". I need to be "happy" and "content" that I have health insurance. A lot of people in this country don't have health insurance. A lot of people were hopeful of getting it, and politicians on both sides got in the way of that.
The wage/salary of a job is important, but the benefits are super important too. I realize a lot of people aren't even able to have wages above minimum wage, and don't even get to consider the options of employee benefits.
I wanted to take the time to be appreciative, because in general, I still feel like I'm waiting to reach a point where I'll be content, but I need to realize that time is now.
