Investing Update 10/22/2016

Hello and welcome to my weekly investing update!

General Updates

It seems like it's going to take forever to pass the $2,000 portfolio value. If I keep adding money when stocks are down, then when stocks do go back up, I'll fly right past the $2,000 portfolio value mark.

New Stock/Adding Shares

I bought another share of AT&T (T) stock this week! I bought this share at $37.40. The stock dropped ~3% on Friday, so instead of viewing it as a bad thing, I viewed it as a good thing, and bought another share.

It appears that AT&T is buying Time Warner. I guess AT&T stock went down because they're spending a lot of money, even though it's money spent to theoretically help the business long-term.

I assume AT&T will increase their dividend to $0.49/share starting next quarter, based off of previous dividends. This is not guaranteed, I'm just projecting.

  • T - ($0.49 x 4 payments/year) / $35.65 average purchase price = 5.50% yield - great!

Dividends

I received two dividends this past week -
